To make it easier in both upcoming events and so everyone knows how to normally act in a Role playing environment so to not harm the guilds or your characters reputation by acting in a harmful manner we've created this list of basic guidelines and rules for conduct while IC.
As will be mentioned a lot, this is not a list of rules that will prevent you from Role playing your character or making a character as you want, they are only a basic guideline for how best to act in the company of others and everything here can be twisted and turned to become good instead of bad. If it already is good then its all well. Just do not hesitate to make a character that 'seems' to go against any of these points because they are only here as a social guideline.
- Stay IC as much as possible in all channels that it is suitable in, if you are in a situation where OOC is needed to clear up something or to add some sort of information FC has graced us with a /ooc (With small letters) channel that comes out as the normal say channel does just with an Out of Character tag instead. Barriers can also be used if you find that easier. "(( ))"
- Do not disturb other players. When attending other players events or just if you randomly happen to pass by one do not disturb or wreck that event in any way, if it is an open event feel free to join in but with that said, an open event does not mean that you are open to ruining it with different means. If the event is closed feel free to ask if you can attend or role play along with them but do not in any way attempt to ruin it. Also to add to this point, do not disturb or attempt to do so when other random players are role playing either. As with all the other points, of course you are free to role play your character as he/she is, spy if you like, ask if you may sit down, but no follower of Hecate would pretend to be drunk and crash their role playing by acting in a disrespectful manner towards them both IC and OOC. "Acting disrespectfully" could just be part of your character but when you are told to leave or maybe even escorted away you just don't come back to annoy them.
- No text shortcuts. While you are IC all and I mean all words will be typed as a whole, 'l33t' speak of any kind over an IC channel will not be tolerated, if you are not aware of what this is then it is stuff like: "U r 1 l33t pwnzored d0de!" Speech like that does not only set a bad example for the guild and your character but also ruins the immersion greatly. Not being able to type words correctly or just making a simple typo does of course not count as a shortcut, it is not your fault that you are not aware of how to type every word in the English dictionary / Conan lore and it is not your fault if you make a typo.
- Respect other players regardless of their OOC or inappropriate IC behavior. Set an example. At best ignore them, at worst report them.
- God Emoting: This has many names but I use God Emoting. God emoting is basically a way of acting while doing your emotes and even creating your character can be a factor of this, it is basically when you preform an act that either is not possible in the game, or an act that effects other characters without allowing them to defend themselves against it. God 'emoting' can also be saying that your character is the bastard child of Conan and Thoth-amon (Yes I know its not possible but its just an example.) Some other examples of God Emoting is: "Thade stabs Medea with her blade, effectively killing her with it." This is a clear god emote because it does not let Medea do anything about it, the best way of preventing this would be to just add attempt(s) at the start of emotes like this but of course there are other ways. "Thade attempts to stab her blade into Medea." Problem solved! (As a side note, the death of someone elses character should always be planned beforehand with said person, nobody wants to get randomly assassinated even though that is the way Hyboria is, it will not be tolerated. This is mainly because nobody wants to restart their character anew just because some random drunkard had to pierce a spear through said characters chest. Unless that act was planned out beforehand with the person behind the character.)
- Don't be annoying. By this we mean stuff as: Begging non-stop, screaming endlessly, arguing continuously, acting like an idiot - and basically everything in that line, of course everything is allowed, we will not stop you from making or role playing your character as you want. Acting in an annoying matter would be by spamming or just plainly being annoying as everyone should know how too. A simple example would be me saying: "Rudenablabala" non-stop and for no reason at all. Nobody enjoys spam so please don't.
- Stay IC while RPing. That means if your guild status is a lowly ranked individual, then you are out of place and disrespectful to someone of elder rank if you speak out of turn or above your station. IE: If your playing a Lieutenant, you should not bark orders to a Captain player.
As mentioned several times above, these pointers are not made to restrict how you can role play your character but more to give you a better view of how you should role play your character in a way that is respectful to others and that doesn't ruin your reputation.
Also as mentioned above, these are only pointers at what should be done, if your character is in such a manner that it would seem that he/she would be breaking rules just by RPing normally, then do not worry. If your character is a wise-ass-likes-to-mess-with-others-barbarian, then go ahead attempt to kill others, slay full guilds, but if you are defeated or escorted away, do not come back just to be a clown once more.
As a last mention, these 'rules' are not meant to be followed exactly as they stand but are more meant to be a way of understanding how not to act and how to act in certain situations.
