Medea was born under a Stygian full moon, a bright child, seeming unaturally alert for a newborn. Her mother was proud to hear that her daughter carried the mark of hecate; an expression within the clan meaning one blessed with a strong affinity for magic.
A curious baby, she always seemed to be watching and listening to those around her, she never cried. Some of the young 'normal' women caring for the infant found this little girl decidedly creepy. This was not helped by her first words being not 'mummy' but a question a four month old baby had no buisness wondering about.
Eventually her mother dismissed the 'usless' normals to care for her talented daughter on her own. She taught the baby to read, if not write yet with her tiny hands, and the beginings of magical theory. Almost resulting in a tradgey when she set her nursey on fire when left unsupervised for an hour.
When she was a few years old her life improved considerably, as she was able to study and control her abilities far better than many older and wiser witches. She spent her days studying and learning the history of her clan. Her powers grew.
Initially subject to bullying by other young witches, who felt threatened by the 'odd girl' this stopped quickly when they were shown that the few things they had learned since recently learning to read were no match for the years of study Medea possesed. In effect, her early start had given her the powers of a young adult sorceress, not a mere child. From this point on she began to gather a crowd of friends and hangers on, as is the wont of popular children, however she was not a child; some would say she never was, that a demon had exchanged one of their own for Syrena's daughter at birth.. She gathered allies in her childhood that she would later call upon, as full grown witches, to ensure her place in the Elder council at a tender 21 years of age.
Her power grew and eventually her position as the greatest witch of her time could not be denied. The Witch-Queen at this time, a proud and haughty woman of 40 years, would not suffer to be usurped by a mere 'child' and cast Medea into prison.. However when she was stuck down a scant few weeks later by a mysterious illness.. Some spoke of a sign from Hecate.. Others, more quietly, whispered Assasination..
Despite the awed and accusing mutterings of Clan gossip Medea took her place as Witch-Queen of the Daughters of Hecate, promising to lead her clan into a new age of power and prospeity and plenty.. It remains to be seen how well these promises will be kept by the young Queen.
